The Farm
Our working farm is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
Accommodation
Our accommodation offers 3 rooms in all, 2 double rooms with ensuite shower room and 1 twin bedded room with ensuite bathroom (shower over the bath).
The guest lounge downstairs has crackling log fires in the winter , a colour TV and video. There is lots of tourist information, books and maps which you can borrow to help you plan your day. A fridge is provided for you.
Wherever possible we source the food we serve locally.
Our sausages and Bacon either from JB Wilkinsons in Otley or from my brother Ian's farm and shop 2 miles away.
The Free-Range Eggs are from our very own girls and will have only been laid either this morning or yesterday. The Milk, Butter, Yogurt, jams and honey are all from Yorkshire producers. The honey is produced by bees that spend their summer on the moor here at Scaife Hall. Bread is dependant on where I end up doing my shopping but I have one or two good bakeries that I use locally.
'Doreens' Black Pudding is from Haighs of Thirsk.
As our breakfasts are cooked to order it isn’t a fast food experience and we do ask that you be patient with us.
If you are with us for more than one night you may wish to try something a bit different tomorrow.
The following dishes are available but must be ordered the night before….
Porridge, Served just as it is, thick and creamy,
Or with Yorkshire Honey and toasted Almonds
Locally smoked Kipper fillets from Mackenzie’s Yorkshire smokehouse, Blubberhouses. Served just as they are or with a poached egg.
